Saudi Arabia, through the Public Investment Fund, is considering merging Electronic Arts (EA) with Savvy Games in order to create one of the largest gaming companies in the world. This merger aims to bring together popular games like Madden NFL and Pokémon Go under a unified umbrella to enhance acquisition and development capabilities and to capitalize on intellectual property rights within the $214 billion gaming industry. The deal is still under review, with no final decisions made yet, and it may be postponed until Savvy completes its acquisition of the Chinese company Montton, valued at $6 billion. This move represents a significant shift in Saudi Arabia's entertainment sector strategy, despite potential regulatory challenges, particularly in the area of antitrust laws.
