Nasdaq funds Kraken for tokenized shares
Nasdaq plans to invest $100 million in Bayouard, the owner of Kraken platform, with the goal of developing infrastructure for tokenized shares and the necessary technologies for trading them via a blockchain network. The launch of tokenized shares is expected in the second quarter of 2027. The collaboration aims to expand the trading of digital assets and adopt Nasdaq’s market monitoring technology, potentially accelerating trading and settlement processes. It also seeks to transform the Kraken platform into a broader marketplace that includes both traditional and digital assets, amidst a growing trend to incorporate tokenized securities into major markets. This investment raises Bayouard’s valuation to $21 billion and reflects Wall Street’s desire to develop more interconnected and transparent financial systems.
