Is Muskeet Al-Brosops Treated Fairly
The study indicates that the Prosopis juliflora, known as mesquite, belonging to the legume family, is considered a dangerous invasive species in the Kingdom. It possesses an extraordinary ability to grow in harsh environments thanks to its deep roots and prolific seed production, which have contributed to its rapid spread and competition with native plants. This tree causes environmental and economic damage, including its roots that extend up to 50 meters and deplete water resources. Additionally, its dense branches interfere with animal movement and lead to the deterioration of ecosystems. Mesquite is one of the most dangerous invasive species due to its high resistance and lack of natural enemies, making eradication difficult. The study emphasizes the importance of employing research, innovation, and developing a national strategy to monitor and control its spread, given the significant risks it poses to biodiversity and agricultural resources.
