Tourist guiding rules on commissions and refunds
The Saudi Ministry of Tourism has issued a new regulation governing the profession of tourist guiding. The regulation prohibits guides from soliciting commissions or gifts from tourists during their activities. It also establishes rules to ensure tourists' rights to refunds or rescheduling of services when they cannot be provided. The regulations include requirements for guides to provide accurate information and to offer services only through licensed service providers. Licensing conditions specify that applicants must be Saudi nationals, at least 18 years old, successfully pass examination courses, and demonstrate language proficiency. Additionally, the rules define the fees and procedures for renewing and obtaining permits, with a 180-day deadline for current license holders to adjust their status. The regulations emphasize the importance of adhering to safety and transparency standards to ensure a safe, compliant, and quality tourism experience in line with the Kingdom's regulations.
