The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia plans to start manufacturing and exporting Motorola phones through Lenovo's factory in Riyadh beginning next December, as part of its efforts to become a regional hub for manufacturing and export in the technology sector. The factory, which spans an area of over 200,000 square meters—making it Lenovo’s largest facility outside China—comprises four production lines dedicated to smartphones, laptops, and data servers. Its initial production capacity is expected to reach two million units annually, with the potential to increase to 8 million units depending on demand. The factory aims to employ more than 1,500 Saudis and allocates approximately 30% of its output for the domestic market. It also emphasizes supporting national content and ensuring flexibility in exports, particularly to Gulf and African markets, thereby contributing to strengthening the kingdom’s digital sovereignty and information security.
