The results of the PISA 2025 international student assessment program showed that Saudi Arabia recorded the second-highest percentage among participating countries in the absenteeism indicator, with 66% of 15-year-old students reporting they had missed at least one school day in the two weeks prior to the test, compared to a global average of 22%. Despite the high absenteeism rate, the percentage of students who did not miss a full day increased to 34.2%, reflecting variations in attendance and absence patterns. The results also indicated that 48% of students arrived late to school, an improvement from 55% in 2018, along with positive indicators in the educational environment such as increased teacher engagement and improved levels of school belonging.
