The first edition of the tournament was launched in Saudi Arabia in 2024, following the announcement by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in October 2023 to host it. The tournament includes competitions spanning seven weeks, with prizes amounting to up to $27 million for the club championship, where the winner earns the title of "World Cup" and a prize of $7 million. Teams are crowned based on their standings and meet requirements that include reaching the top eight positions and winning at least one competition.
