Concerns over Development Slowdown Impacting AI Stocks
Global shares of artificial intelligence companies have declined following warnings about the risks of rapid development. Industry leaders have called for slowing down the pace of progress to prevent misuse, amidst concerns over cybersecurity threats, cyberattacks, and attacks on government systems. This came alongside a drop in the Nasdaq 100 index by 1.2% and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index by 5.1%, as well as declines in major companies such as Nvidia, AMD, Micron, and SpaceX. These developments have also impacted the European and Japanese technology markets.
