The article addresses the issue of children abandoning their mothers and its impact on inheritance rights and wills. An incident in Al-Madina Al-Munawara revealed a woman who wished to allocate a wealth of 10 million riyals and real estate to charitable associations, following a year of disconnection from her four children. The lawyer explained that an individual's right to dispose of their money during their lifetime surpasses mere donations and wills, as they are free to manage their affairs before passing away. However, the estate's assets remain subject to the provisions of the will and inheritance laws after death. He pointed out that a will cannot exceed one-third of the estate and can be fully allocated to charities through a will, whereas only one-third can be directly designated according to the regulations. Experts also confirmed that family disconnection does not eliminate the heir's rights. The law distinguishes between actions taken during life and the will after death, stressing the importance of considering social and psychological aspects of family disputes and advocating for mediation before making final decisions.
