Archaeology season on Al-Ula and Khaybar history
The Royal Commission for Al-Ula and Khyber launched the Archaeological Season 2026-2027, aiming to uncover the region's cultural heritage, document it, protect it, and enhance its position on the global archaeological research map. The program focuses on six main axes: early human presence, ancient kingdoms, pilgrimage and trade routes, environmental history and water management, inscriptions and written heritage, and material culture and lifestyles. Its goal is to study archaeological evidence across sites and time periods through field research, digital documentation, and collaboration with international institutions, while also developing national expertise and promoting community participation. This aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 to preserve national heritage and showcase the kingdom's cultural identity.
