FIFA President Gianni Infantino drew widespread criticism during the 2026 World Cup for his style of transportation and luxurious accommodation, as he used a private jet, an expensive security convoy, and rented offices in Trump Tower for nearly $40,000 a month. He also held meetings at a luxury hotel in Miami, while former players were provided with lavish accommodations, leading to speculation that FIFA's spending on hotels alone could exceed $200 million, although the federation denied this. Meanwhile, fans faced sharp rises in ticket prices, accommodation costs, and food expenses, with FIFA emphasizing that a significant portion of the revenue is invested in developing football, despite ongoing criticism over inflated costs and relaxed prioritization of economic concerns.
