The Spanish La Liga has announced the conclusion of its project to develop Iraqi football after more than three years of cooperation with the Iraqi Football Federation. The project began in 2023 with the goal of improving Iraq's competitions both administratively and technically. It included restructuring the league, enhancing competition management, updating the broadcasting system, implementing Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology, increasing the number of youth teams from 66 to 174, and developing and assessing talent development programs. Additionally, it aimed to boost the value of digital broadcasting rights and increase viewership to over 20 million during the 2025-2026 season. The La Liga president confirmed that the foundations established through this cooperation are solid, and that Iraq has a passionate football-loving fan base.
