Former Manchester City star Joey Barton has had his trial postponed until March 8, 2027, after a court ordered a delay in the case regarding his assault on a man near a golf course in Merseyside. The trial was originally scheduled for this week, but the judge decided to postpone it for a year, which could mean he remains in prison for an additional six months before the trial begins, unless he is granted bail. The case pertains to an assault incident that resulted in serious injuries to a former coach, who was beaten while with another person, leading to severe facial and rib injuries. The victim was at risk of losing sight in one eye. Barton, 44 years old, faces assault charges and maintains his innocence, as investigations into the case continue. The incident dates back to March 2023.
