Cameroonian Football Federation President Samuel Eto'o emphasized that African football must continue to support Gianni Infantino, the President of FIFA. He praised his role in accelerating the development of national associations and providing more countries with opportunities to participate in the World Cup, especially after the African quota increased from five to nine spots in the expanded 48-team edition. Eto'o affirmed that Africa's support for Infantino comes in recognition of his achievements, despite disagreements with the European Union Football Association (UEFA), which opposes some of his policies—particularly regarding the distribution of FIFA resources and concerns over the management of the financial aspects of tournaments. He noted that the limited resources of African football associations impact their competitiveness and ability to produce talent, as they rely heavily on government funding. Increasing budgets could help develop players and enable African teams to compete with major European nations. He concluded by saying that while UEFA is important, it is not the only contributor to the development of global football.
