Gabriel Martinelli's transfer from Arsenal to Al Hilal marks a renewed move after 25 years since the Liberian Christopher Wreh's transfer, who was the first player to join Al Hilal coming from Arsenal in 2000. Wreh, who was 25 years old at the time, joined the team during the 2000-2001 season after his contract was sold by Arsenal. He played with Al Hilal for half a season before moving to Saint Mirren in Scotland, then to other clubs, establishing a long professional career. Now, Al Hilal continues to attract players from Arsenal, reflecting ongoing recruitment policies that demonstrate a longstanding relationship between the two clubs.
