A dispute occurred during a tennis match between Russian Daniil Medvedev and American Sebastian Gornzi at the US Open when two birds landed on the net during a rally, prompting the umpire to intervene and halt play to replay the point. Medvedev's protest against the umpire's decision was clear, describing it as "the worst decision I've ever seen," though it did not affect his victory in the match, which he won in three straight sets, advancing to the third round. This incident is considered one of the strangest events Medvedev has experienced in his career, coming after his championship win in 2021.
