Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal has launched a significant investment in the Saudi Club Al-Hilal by acquiring a 70% ownership stake through his company, "Kingdom Holding." This move aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 strategy to enhance the sports sector and transform clubs into high-value investment entities, both economically and athletically. This step represents a qualitative shift in the concept of club ownership in Saudi Arabia, contributing to increased professionalism and transparency, as well as sports and commercial gains. It serves as a precursor to the full privatization of Saudi clubs, with expectations of encouraging global investment approaches within the local sports arena. The overarching goal is to elevate the status of Saudi sports internationally, develop the sports industry, and improve performance levels and fan engagement.
