The article aims to highlight the list of nominees for the FIFA Best Young Player Award for the 2025-2026 season, organized by France Football magazine, with the top emerging talents in football competing for this honor. The list includes a group of young stars from various countries, notably featuring Arab representation through Moroccan Ayoub Bouhaddi and Algerian Ibrahim Maaza. Leading the contenders is Spanish player Lamine Yamal, a two-time winner of the award, who is seeking to claim it for a third consecutive time—an unprecedented achievement since the award's inception in 2018. He is challenged by fellow Spaniard Pau Cubarsi, who played a significant role in Spain’s victory at the 2026 World Cup and is considered one of the most promising young defenders. Also notable is Ivorian Yann Diomande, who transferred to Real Madrid after a standout season with Leipzig, along with talented Arab players from Morocco and Algeria. The award is given to the best player under 21 years of age. The selection is based on performance from August 2025 to July 2026, with emphasis on major tournaments such as the 2026 World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations. Yamal, who won the award in 2024 and 2025, is a strong candidate to achieve a third victory—something no one has done before. The decision on the winner is based on individual performance, ability to influence games, making a difference, teamwork, and titles won. The recipient will be announced during the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony in October in London.
