Arab Union backs Infantino in Al-Khaleji
The Arab football federations, representing 22 unions, supported Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA), during the board of directors' meeting held in Jeddah. They praised his efforts to enhance cooperation with various football bodies. This support comes amid increasing opposition to Infantino, particularly after his attempt in July to sell a stake in FIFA's tournaments, including the World Cup, which he was forced to backtrack from. Additionally, Gulf and European federations announced their support, while the Swiss federation declared its withdrawal, and the European Union threatened to field a rival candidate, as Infantino prepares for his re-election scheduled for next March.
