Evans becomes Sardinia Rally world champ
British driver Elvin Evans won the World Rally Championship title for the first time in his career after claiming victory at the Sardinia Rally held in Italy. Evans was leading the championship before the rally and finished the race in fifth place, but a mistake made by Swedish driver Oliver Solberg in the final stage caused him to lose crucial points, securing Evans's championship win by a five-point margin. This achievement marks Evans’s first major title after a long career, and it is considered one of the most significant results of the 2026 rally season.
