Lionel Messi, the captain of the Argentina national team, will officially end his international career in front of his fans in a farewell match held at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires, in the presence of around 85,000 spectators, after a journey spanning 21 years. The friendly match will be played against Benin and will be watched by millions of viewers on television as part of a celebratory event honoring his sporting career. The announcement of his retirement came after losing the World Cup final to Spain two and a half months ago, where Messi expressed his readiness to conclude his international journey. However, he still has a contract with Inter Miami until 2028, with a possible early retirement following the death of his father.
