Manchester City faces intensified crisis amid secret UK probe
Manchester City, the English football club, is facing a series of legal crises. The "Financial Times" revealed that the club underwent a tax investigation by British authorities in 2018, due to suspicion of utilizing special arrangements to reduce payable taxes, following electronic leaks. Although the investigation does not accuse the club of intentional fraud, it remains open, and the tax authorities have not yet taken punitive measures. This comes alongside a previous ruling by an independent committee that accused the club of inflating revenues and artificially lowering costs between 2009 and 2018, with potential penalties that could include losing titles or being excluded from the league. The case also has geopolitical implications, as the British government emphasized the importance of respecting the investigation's findings.
