Linyker criticizes Ronaldo after Messi's departure
Gary Lineker reported that Cristiano Ronaldo's international career came to a sad end amidst an atmosphere of tension and discord, in contrast to the poignant scenes witnessed when Lionel Messi bid farewell with the Argentine national team. Lineker confirmed that Ronaldo, who scored 146 goals and is Portugal's all-time top scorer, deserved a similar farewell, especially after his sudden departure statement in which he accused coach Jorge Jesus of breaking promises. On the other hand, Messi’s final match with Argentina saw him score a goal and provide two decisive assists, receiving warm and emotional applause—an event Lineker described as one he expected Ronaldo to experience as well. He also pointed out that Ronaldo and Messi competed throughout their careers for the title of the best player, with Messi winning 8 Ballon d'Or awards to Ronaldo's 5. However, both players will be remembered not only for their impressive records and achievements but also for the impact they left on football.
