Spanish referees receive 500K euro media bonus

The Spanish Football Federation and the referees' union have reached a new agreement that includes increased revenues and enhances the image of referees through a television reward of up to half a million euros. This reward is linked to media appearances and communication with the public. The aim of the agreement is to promote transparency and develop the media content for competitions by allowing cameras into locker rooms and providing content that illustrates the nature of referees' work and the pressures they face. The average income of a first-division referee is around 300,000 euros annually, encompassing a fixed salary, match bonuses, image rights, as well as rewards related to participating in producing televised content, all with the goal of improving the perception of refereeing and strengthening public trust in it.
