Gerard urges historic punishment for City
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has called for Manchester City's titles to be revoked or for a distinctive mark to be placed alongside their achievements, in response to their breach of the Premier League's financial regulations. He emphasized that the punishment should include points deductions over multiple seasons and support banning the club from signing new players, in order to set a strong precedent. It is worth noting that an independent committee issued a report stating that City violated financial sponsorship rules between 2009 and 2018, while the club is appealing the decision. Gerrard stressed that the sanctions should be painful enough to reflect the damage caused by the club, suggesting that stripping titles might not be sufficient, but he proposed adding a commemorative mark, like a star, next to their achievements to acknowledge the club’s history.
