Tax documents spark debate FIFA denies Infantino secret pay
The International Football Association (FIFA) denied that its president, Gianni Infantino, received a second salary after reports revealed payments totaling $1.76 million in his name during 2024, according to press reports based on American tax disclosures. FIFA clarified that these amounts do not constitute a second salary and that Infantino's compensation and benefits are determined by an independent committee and subject to auditing, with a commitment to transparency and compliance with financial laws in Switzerland and the United States. This comes at a time when Infantino is facing criticism over his management and his failure to meet transparency demands regarding financial entitlements, amid his run for a third presidential term ahead of the 2027 elections, amid ongoing controversy over the nature and reasons for the payments.
