FIFA may cancel Peace Prize after awarding Trump
The International Football Federation (FIFA) is currently debating fundamental changes to the Peace Award that was given last year to former U.S. President Donald Trump, or its complete cancellation, due to widespread criticism surrounding his selection as the winner. Reports indicate that FIFA council members are discussing a new formulation for the award to ensure it is not given to any political figures and to avoid any controversial issues or potential diplomatic crises involving Trump or others. These discussions are part of an effort to address criticisms related to the award's association with Trump’s politics and to prevent any embarrassment or crises. The focus is shifting toward honoring individuals within the football community who contribute to social cohesion and responsibility, along with establishing stricter criteria for selecting awardees.
