FIFA Reviews Peace Award Post Trump
The International Federation of Football (FIFA) has announced a feasibility study regarding the continuation of the "Peace Prize" that was established in November 2025. The award was first given to U.S. President Donald Trump during the 2026 World Cup draw ceremony in Washington. The purpose of the prize is to highlight the humanitarian role of football amid increasing global disturbances. However, awarding it to Trump has sparked criticism concerning transparency and the political nature of the selection process. Meanwhile, European moves are underway to select an alternative candidate for the FIFA presidency to challenge the current president, Gianni Infantino, who faces opposition from the European, Asian, and CONCACAF football unions. This is part of an effort to present a new nomination before the deadline on November 18.
