Asia's top player points system explained
The article explains how the best Asian player of 2026 is selected. The evaluation is based on a set of criteria, including man of the match awards in official tournaments, individual and team achievements, discipline, as well as a technical review of the nominees. The list of candidates includes Saudi player Salem Al-Dawsari, captain of Al-Hilal, Feras Buraikan, Al-Ahli striker, and Iranian Ali Riza Biranvand. The winner is determined through a points system that awards points based on man of the match awards, with different point values depending on the type of tournament, and considers discipline and behavior’s impact on the overall score. The top three candidates with the highest points are shortlisted by a secret committee from the Asian Football Confederation, and the winner will be announced at a ceremony in Bangkok on November 19.
