Barcelona ties Real Madrid record with 5-goal draw
Barcelona's team set a historic milestone after their ninth consecutive victory in La Liga, mirroring Real Madrid's record-breaking start that lasted 58 years and dates back to the 1968 season. This achievement gives them the opportunity to set a new record after the upcoming El Clásico match in the tenth round. In a game against Real Betis, Yamine Yamal scored his eighth goal of the season in the league, becoming the first Spaniard to reach this number of goals in nine matches since Diego Costa in the 2013-2014 season. He also ranks as the second-highest scorer from outside the box since the 2023-2024 season. In the match, player Rodri scored the opening goal for Barcelona, while a goal from Argentine De Selsu was disallowed due to Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology. Gabriel Jesus then increased the lead before Abdel Samad Zilzouli netted Betis's second goal. Barcelona raised its tally to 27 points, five clear of Atletico Madrid, while Betis looks forward to their next match, which could see them qualify for the Champions League.
