Ten Hag Discusses Ronaldo Clash After 4 Years
Eric Ten Hag, the former Manchester United coach, criticized the club's management for deepening a toxic culture within the team, claiming that they grant players excessive influence and undermine the authority of the coach and discipline. He pointed out the management's weak support in enforcing discipline rules, especially with star players like Cristiano Ronaldo, who was involved in public disputes with him, most notably when he boycotted and met with Piers Morgan, leading to his departure. Ten Hag also criticized the impact of former Real Madrid players Varane and Casemiro on the team’s balance of power, considering that their influence led to a preference for a style of play that conflicted with the attacking and dynamic approach he aimed to develop. He emphasized that some players did not prioritize football or Manchester United, which contributed to declining discipline and a loss of enthusiasm.
