US League Goes European
Major League Soccer (MLS) announced that it will abandon its February-to-December season and adopt the European calendar starting in July 2027. The first season will run through May 2028, with summer and winter transfer windows. To avoid an interruption to competition, a transitional season will take place from February 19 to May 8, 2027, featuring all 30 teams divided into two groups. Each team will play 14 matches. The top eight teams in each group will advance to single-elimination playoffs, with the final scheduled for the weekend that includes May 31, 2027.
