The UAE is taking part in the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games with the largest delegation in its history, comprising 12 male and female athletes competing in nine sports. The Games will run from 31 October to 13 November, with around 2,700 athletes representing 206 National Olympic Committees. Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said the UAE’s participation aims to strengthen friendship, excellence and cooperation, and to showcase the country’s values. He urged the athletes to build on Omar Al Marzouqi’s silver-medal achievement at the 2018 Games—the first Emirati medal in the competition’s history. This is the first Youth Olympic Games to be hosted in Africa.
