Carlos Alcaraz expects the battle for the top spot in men’s tennis in 2027 to be broader and more competitive than a two-man rivalry between himself and Jannik Sinner. He noted that Alexander Zverev has shown he can compete with them, while Ben Shelton is beginning to close in on the sport’s elite. Alcaraz called Zverev the best player of the year after he won the French Open and US Open, benefiting from injuries to Alcaraz and Sinner. He added that players’ physical preparation for next season would be an important factor in the competition.
