Benitez's selections prompt US midfield worries
The US Men's National Team roster for the 2026 World Cup reveals that Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino is relying on stability and bringing back familiar players. Tanner Tismann was excluded despite recovering from injury, as the coach preferred not to risk his fitness. His omission led to the addition of full-back Joe Scally instead, raising questions about midfield balance—especially given the significant reliance on Tyler Adams and potential changes in the roles of certain players. There are concerns about the defensive foundation being weak and how injuries might impact the readiness of the back line.
