World Cup 1974: Key match from Al-Merrikh winger
The 1974 FIFA World Cup was fraught with political and security tensions, especially between West and East Germany, where final clashes between the teams featured heightened security measures and intensive police interventions. West Germany secured its second title after an exciting final match against the Netherlands, led by Franz Beckenbauer, following a draw with the Netherlands in the first half and a winning goal by Gerd Müller in the second. The tournament saw the participation of its first team from Oceania (Australia) and the first country from sub-Saharan Africa (Zaire), while previous champions like Brazil faced setbacks, with Pelé absent from the competition for political and humanitarian reasons.
