FIFA and Diarra settle compensation
Former French player Diara reached a settlement with FIFA after claiming €65 million in compensation related to transfer regulations. The European Court of Justice had ruled in October 2024 that these transfer rules violated EU law, impacting players' freedom of movement and cross-border competition. FIFA announced that the two sides had concluded all legal proceedings without admitting any fault or paying any compensation. Meanwhile, Diara continued to seek the enforcement of the European Court’s judgment in his dispute with his former club, Lokomotiv Moscow, which had ordered him to pay €10.5 million following a legal dispute and subjected him to a retroactive suspension of 15 months. Subsequently, modifications were made to the player transfer regulations.
