Platini sues Infantino in court
Michel Platini, former star of the French national team, filed a lawsuit in France against Gianni Infantino, the FIFA president, on charges of defamation and abuse of power. The case is linked to the events that led to his disqualification from running for FIFA presidency in 2015. The lawsuit also targets former FIFA officials, seeking compensation for damages that Platini claims he suffered through actions aimed at tarnishing his reputation and preventing him from running. The case was initiated after it was revealed that FIFA had made a financial payment to him in 2011, which resulted in his dismissal from his position and the opening of a criminal investigation against him. This was prior to Infantino's re-election as President of the International Football Federation.
