The United States denied Somali referee Omar Abdelkader Artan entry to participate in the management of World Cup matches due to his alleged links to individuals suspected of involvement in terrorist organizations. Despite being awarded the title of Best Referee in Africa in 2025, he was barred from traveling after arriving at Miami Airport, as authorities considered his connections a threat to national security. The Somali Football Federation expressed regret and stated that they are seeking to understand the reasons and are engaging in diplomatic efforts to allow him to participate in the tournament.
