The city of Darmstadt in the state of Hesse, Germany, has retrieved a sculpture that had remained in a sculptor's workshop for over 23 years. The city had sent the sculpture in 2003 for restoration and to create a bronze replica. The original sculpture, which is over 120 years old, was supposed to be transferred to the town hall building, but it stayed in the workshop throughout this period. The workshop owner demanded the city pay him 2,200 euros as compensation for storage costs. The dispute between the two parties became intense before the municipality announced that it would take custody of the sculpture and settle the dues, ending a years-long conflict.
