The exceptional session for basic education and high school students began in Sweida. However, most students did not take the exams because local factions prevented hundreds of students from reaching the examination centers in the villages under the control of the Interim Government in the northern countryside. Despite this, around 150 students from suburban Damascus, especially from Jermana, headed to the exam centers. The Shahba Operations Room had previously announced the restriction of students from accessing the exams, amid calls to hold the exams within the city of Sweida and to de-politicize the educational issue. It is worth noting that the transitional president issued a decree granting an exceptional session for students after the previous government prevented the relocation of exam centers to suburban Damascus, which caused many students to halt their participation in the exams.
