The floods that struck the Rasuwa area and the surrounding region near the border with China in Nepal have resulted in 616 deaths and injured 2,301 others, with approximately 2,500 people still missing on both the Nepalese and Chinese sides, including foreign nationals. The floods caused dozens of bridges to collapse and damaged roads, as search and rescue operations continue with the help of helicopters. Additionally, it has been reported that the area experienced an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2. Although the U.S. Geological Survey initially stated that the earthquake was caused by seismic activity, this information was later updated to confirm that the cause was a glacial collapse, which led to avalanches and flooding, thereby exacerbating the scale of the disaster.
