The General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport in Syria announced the arrival of the Syrian Airlines' first two aircraft out of eight from the Airbus A320 family, as part of a plan to modernize the national carrier's fleet. The registration of the two planes, YK-AKI and YK-AKJ, has been approved. Each has a capacity of 156 seats, divided into 12 business class and 144 economy seats. Both aircraft underwent comprehensive inspections and maintenance before their delivery, with prior operational experience in the European market and in compliance with European safety standards. The YK-AKJ aircraft has been painted with a new livery and visual identity, while the YK-AKI has arrived at Damascus Airport to commence service. These aircraft mark the beginning of a fleet renewal process aimed at developing Damascus Airport as part of a project in collaboration with Europecon.
