Syrian Family Seeks Name Recognition in German Park

A Syrian family residing in Germany visited Fernwehpark in the town of Oberkotzau, Bavaria, after traveling nearly 1,000 kilometers round-trip. They brought a symbolic plaque bearing the names of their hometowns, Deir ez-Zor and Tadmur (Palmyra), as a contribution from their homeland, Syria, to this global project. The family, who have been living in Germany since 2014 and move between different regions, aimed to introduce parts of their homeland and add a symbolic presence representing their cities to the park, which features symbols from countries around the world.
