Zaarour Details New Media Law

Syrian Minister of Information Khaled Zaarour announced that the new Media Law has abolished jail sentences for journalists and replaced them with fines, in an effort to promote press freedom. The law also aims to ensure the right to access information and to protect the confidentiality of sources, as part of broader efforts to rebuild the legal and institutional framework for media work in Syria.
