Atef Henedy heads to Damascus after Sweida arrest

Aatif Henidi's departure to Damascus comes after his arrest from his home in Sweida, following a statement in which he expressed his rejection of linking the region with Israel. This sparked tension in the area and led to local clashes. The "National Guard" forces removed him from his house and took him to the Umm al-Zeitoun checkpoint at his request, after residents gathered, and shots and bombs were fired around his home. Henidi is a prominent figure in Sweida, known for his patriotic stance against the former Syrian regime. This is not the first time regional traditional leaders have headed to Damascus.
