Turkey: Man arrested for kicking cat during prayers

A man was detained in the Turkish city of Erzurum after kicking a cat during the congregational prayer inside a mosque, sparking widespread outrage on social media. A video showed the cat roaming inside the mosque before the individual intervened and forcefully kicked it, causing it to fly through the air, fall to the ground, and撞 the imam's head. In response to the incident, the public prosecution issued an order for an investigation and the detention of the person, according to Turkey's animal protection law, amid widespread condemnation of the use of a place of worship and prayer time for violence against an animal.
