Syria's path to change

The article explains that the situation in Syria requires a comprehensive change to address exhausting crises related to authority and the regime. It focuses on the "structural flaw" within the current authority, which is evident in the loss of international trust due to a past marked by terrorism, preventing support for reconstruction, and a lack of internal confidence resulting from the failure to unify Syrian components, leading to diminished national unity and societal fragmentation. It also notes the collapse of essential services and a decline in living standards, along with increasing daily protests and the government's failure to respond, as its legitimacy relies solely on external support. The criticisms include displaying images of luxurious prisons and superficial changes that do not reflect the real situation, with an assessment that remnants of the previous regime are the architects of a new form of tyranny. The only solution, according to the article, is a comprehensive overhaul based on building a true rule of law and achieving justice. It emphasizes that continuing with petitions or internal reforms within the regime is futile, and suggests that Syria's stability can only be achieved through restoring legitimacy and accountability.
