The Central Council of Jews in Germany expressed its shock at the results of the Saxony-Anhalt state parliament elections, which showed the rise of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, classified as a far-right party, bringing it close to forming a single-party parliamentary government. The Council's President, Joseph Schuster, called for caution regarding the party's influence on policies, especially in areas like education, which are fundamental to an open society, and the fight against anti-Semitism. He warned of potential harm if the party were to assume positions of power.
