The city of Halle in Saxony-Anhalt has revealed the existence of a substantial amount of 7.9 million euros in a bank account belonging to the Eigenbetrieb Kindertagesstätten, an organization that manages 54 childcare facilities. It is believed that these funds serve as liquidity reserves to cover unexpected expenses. However, the origin of the money and how it accumulated remain unclear, especially since the city's budget is facing a deficit of approximately 138.2 million euros. It is worth noting that this is not the first occurrence of its kind; previously, 10.4 million euros were found in a similar account that went unused for a year and a half, with significant accounting errors also noted.
